Gulsehir Travel Information:

Gulsehir is an area of Nevsehir 20 km away from that city. It has been the site of many settlements since the Hittite period. In the Gokcetoprak village is found a stone monument in scribed with Hittite symbols. Known under the name of Zoropassos during the Byzantine period, Gulsehir later became one of the important Islamic centres. Aciksaray, situated at the entrance of Gulsehir, is an important site of remains, due to its cave dwellings and rock churches. On the first floor of this two-storoyed settlement are wine cellars, water canals and graves. The frescoes on the upper floor are also interesting to see.
The church dedicated to Saint John has been decorated on the front with carvings made into the wall.
The most famous Turksih structures in Gulsehir is the complex built by Karavezir Seyyid Mehmed Pasha in 1779. This consist of a mosque, a mendrese and five fountains.
